John G. Beard, MBD/JD, President of Alacare Home Health and Hospice Services, Inc.

Appointment:
Appointed since 2008.

Education:
Auburn University, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration; Samford University, Masters in Business Administration;  Cumberland School of Law, Juris Doctorate Degree

Work Experience:
Serves as Chairman and President of Alacare Home Health and Hospice Services, Inc, a Medicare and Medicaid certified provider of Home Health Care and Hospice services.

Memberships:
Alabama Bar Association, American Bar Association, and American Health Lawyers Association. Member of the State Health Planning and Development Ageny’s State Health Coordinating Counsel; the Alabama Respite Coalition; Treasurer of the Board of Director’s of Alabama’s Quality Improvement Organizaiton; Member and Past Chair of the Board of Visitors of the Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama; Member and Past Chair of the Community Advisory Board of the Center of Palliative Care at University of Alabama in Birmingham; Member of the Board of Counselors of the Center of Aging at the University of Alabama in Birmingham; Member of the Health Science Program Advisory Board at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Health Professions.

Accomplishments:
Selected by the Birmingham Business Journal to be in its initial class of the “Birmingham Top 100 in Health Care.” In 2004, Alacare was selected by the Birmingham Regional Chamber of commerce as the Small Business of the Year in its category and received McKesson’s 2004 VIP Award. Selected by the Alabama State Nurse’s Association ast its 2006 Outstandng Non-Member.

Personal Interests:
Active Member of Shades Valley Chapter of Rotary International. A Paul Harris Fellow. Member of Independent Presbyterian Church where he as served on the Board of Elders and as a Deacon and Shepherd. Mr. Beard is happily married to the former Louise Hall. They have a son, Graham, and a daughter, Lanford.
